Susan Ballenger2024-10-18We always stop here, love the sisters, love our stay. Larry PhillipsEliza Wilder2024-10-13Loved this little place. Everyone was so friendly, room was clean, a mixture of modern and outdated. Which it had been more retro! But very cute and worked for what we needed.Valerie Reuschel2024-10-11Nicest owner and great rooms! Would definitely stay again! Very charming!Kevin Waterman2024-10-03In all my travels I’ve always wanted to spend the night in a vintage motel. The kind that’s single floor with a door that opens to the outdoors and requires a real key. After a 2-week trip through the Rockies and staying in posh Airbnb’s, I felt the perfect way to top off the trip was with a stay in an authentic motel. So, I looked up places to stay in Wall, SD and found Welsh’s Motel. My wife was initially hesitant while I was beyond stoked. After realizing I couldn’t make a reservation online I picked up the phone and gave the Welsh’s a call. Turns out I actually got to leave a message on an answering machine as Mrs. Welsh had stepped out for a minute. I promptly got a return call and got a room reserved. Upon arrival, the motel was clean and as well kept as you can imagine. Mrs. Welsh was there to meet me and check me in with a couple quick facts of who I was and a swipe of the credit card. No computer, no 25 minutes of waiting around wondering why I can’t simply get checked into a room, weird deposits, etc. Just a receipt and a literal metal key on a key chain. What a thrill! Upon parking in front of the door and entering our room, I couldn’t believe how solid it was. I was surprised at how updated it was and how amazing it made me feel. I’m a bit of a germaphobe as is my wife, but she actually commented that it was the cleanest shower she had ever seen! Whoa!!! She was won over and admitted that the Welsh motel was better than she could’ve anticipated. Perfectly located 4 blocks from Wall Drug and across the street from 3 convenience stores and a DQ, you are easily within walking distance of everything the town has to offer. Then there’s the digital speed limit sign on the backside of the motel. The kids had a blast running down the sidewalk trying to see how fast they could run. The oldest got up to 17 mph. Goodness, I could go on, but I better get off to the Badlands. What’s crazy is we paid a lot more money at a name brand chain the night before and received a nasty room in return 🤢. So to stay at a locally owned and operated motel with true nostalgic Americana feels was too good. This is what made America great! More Welsh motels please!!! I know where I’ll be staying next time I’m near Wall. Oh, a thing that did disappoint me was the fact that our room didn’t have old school paneling and a tube tv. Rather it had modern paneling and a digital tv with lots of cable channels and wifi. So really no disappoints in reality. What a valid place!!! Norm my traveling gnome really enjoyed it too and wanted a couple pics in front of the amazing sign.Rachel Ingebretson2024-09-17My father and I were on a short trip together and he’d found this place online, so we decided to try it. Neither of has any regrets! This motel is quiet, quaint and CLEAN. The staff is very friendly, it’s in a great location and I’d recommend it to anyone planning to stay in Wall. There are no franchise fees, all rooms are non smoking and they even provide tables and chairs outside the rooms so customers can enjoy the fresh summer evening air.Bailey McDonald2024-09-14just a great motel. if you’re wondering where to stay in town, this is the place. the owner is kind, & literally, i kid you not, as we were checking in a fellow traveler came into the office to tell the owner this was the cleanest motel he’s ever stayed in. highly recommend!Laura Shellhorse2024-09-02The rooms are OK. Pretty noisy outside. Bathroom is very large. Bed was a little hard but not terrible. The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful.Jo S “Jo”2024-08-16Needed a place to crash after a 10 hour drive from Wisconsin didn’t realize in the dark we are down the street from Wall drug super cool lol 😂 woman at the front desk is adorable we chatted about our pugs 😊 great deal for the money and pet friendlyKiana Kittelson2024-08-09We had an amazing stay at Welsh’s Motel!
